NYC Semiquincentennial Events
Sail4th 250
New York City will host major celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary (Semiquincentennial) from July 3 – 8, 2026, centered on the Sail4th 250 maritime spectacle, featuring over 70 tall ships and naval vessels, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, a special Times Square July 4th ball drop, and Macy’s Fireworks. Over 8-10 million spectators are expected for these historic events.
50th Annual Macy’s Fireworks
The 50th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks in 2026 will be a historic celebration, marking both the 50th anniversary of the show and the 250th anniversary of the United States (America 250) on July 4th. The spectacular event, featuring thousands of shells, will take place over the East River in New York City.
Ticker Tape Parade
On July 6, 2026, the City of New York will host Homecoming of Heroes: A Ticker Tape Parade Honoring our Post-9/11 Combat Veterans, First Responders and their Families. It will be a historic tribute recognizing the extraordinary service, sacrifice, and resilience of a generation that bore the weight of America’s longest war.
This celebration will be the first time New York City, and this nation, formally recognize veterans of the Global War on Terror (GWOT) with a parade down the famed Canyon of Heroes. The event comes at a powerful moment in national and international history—on the heels of the 250th birthdays of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, the 400th birthday of New York City, and the return of the International Naval Review 250, bringing allied fleets from around the world to New York Harbor in a rare show of global maritime unity and respect.
Times Square Ball Drop
For the first time in history, the iconic Times Square Ball will drop on July 3, 2026, to ring in Independence Day, marking a historic break from the 118-year New Year’s Eve tradition. This event, part of the America250 celebration for the nation’s 250th birthday, will feature a red, white, and blue ball, fireworks, and patriotic festivities, the Times Square Alliance and America250 announced.
